The Basics
During Christmas time, my family does all sorts of fun-filled, action-packed things. We go skiing in the hills of Orlando, have snow-ball fights in the backyard, make snowmen out of fake snow, hang lights on the house, and run around in the street singing Christmas carrols.
The Snowball Fights
You might be wondering why I mentioned snowballs in Florida. According to you, they don't exist down here; snow is impossible due to the weather, right? Wrong, dead wrong. You see, when it freezes we leave the sprinklers on so the pipes don't freeze (whether or not this is a myth, I neither know nor care) and the grass and dirt gets frozen. It becomes icy. Making balls out of it and throwing them is slightly dangerous so we are forced to pelt them sparingly and use protection.
The Fake Snowman
We do similar things for snowmen. We purchase some fake snow (styerphome), mix it with my frost covered grass and dirt, mix that with some food coloring, stir strongly, then shape as desired. The result is a sort of normal man of snow. He can't talk, move, or return the snowballs we through at him; but he can think. We believe that all snowmen, especially the ones we make ourselves, have a mind of their own. He's probably plotting to kill us and spends all of his time trying to learn and master the force so he can throw things at us just by thinking. We pray he never gets his wish.
